Hey Guys! It's been a super eventful month since I last posted. I'll try to remember everything. INDIE QUEST 2025 We were featured in an indie showcase called Indie Quest 2025 where our new trailer for Colossus was shown along side 40 other amazing indie projects!!! You know what's crazy? 5 months without an update. That's crazy. Lol. Forgive me for that, life got a little busy. BUT progress has not stopped on Colossus!!! I've done a lot of work to progress features. I don't even know where to start. NPCs We've finished NPCs and a new chat bubble system for some lore/flavor text. NPCs now have walking cycles that can change depending on time of day. LIGHTING We Complete change the lighting system in its entirety. It's more dynamic and feels more like a true night rather than a faded black overlay. CORRUPTED RIFTS Introduced corrupted rifts which will now spawn-in which lead to our mirror dimension for a few different modes of how to clear it (purify it). This is just scratching the surface. Everything is coming along really nicely. I'll share more come June! I'm cooking up a new trailer that, in my humble opinion, is WAAYYY better than the one I currently have. It's not as long too, so it gets its point across pretty effectively. Anyway. Thank you for being patient. Thank you so much for reading this and supporting us. Love you. Nick

Hi All! Happy Holidays :) I'm hosting the holidays at my house this year, and I've never cooked for that many people before. Needless to say, the planning and prep has been eating all of my time, as well as wrapping presents. BUT, I've been consistently working on Colossus and I've got a few updates to share! HIDDEN PATHS I decided to add a few secret routes in some of the areas. 2022 Nick actually said, "Why add secret paths? The player should find everything at face value!" But today’s Nick says, "Nah, hidden paths are cool, let’s do it." As many games do, the idea is to reward curiosity. If a player wants to wander and poke around, they’ll discover shortcuts, special items, or maybe even a strange little area that I’m working on. On X/Twitter: https://x.com/Rustic_Panda/status/1869400425075806340 NPC WALKING This one’s pretty straightforward, but i just haven't done it yet. Before, our NPCs were basically standing around like cardboard cutouts. Now they actually move . They’ll wander around their set paths, sometimes stopping to look at flowers or do a little idle animation. It’s minor, but it adds life to the world. Walking NPCs mean you won’t just breeze by them; you might notice one pacing nervously near a bridge or marching along a fence. Maybe they’ve got something to say—or maybe they’re just having a weird day. Either way, it should feel like the world is more… alive. (Also, no, he doesn't have a walking cycle yet. LOL). Happy Monday! :) Instead of just calling it updates, I'm gonna start adding an overview in the title. Idk how to blog, but this makes sense to me if you want to read back. (Also thanks for reading in the first place). Alright, I've got some small updates for you today that I got done over the weekend! OUTLINES Once upon a time, 2022 Nick said: "why do we need outlines to indicate what the player can interact with? Wouldn't it make more sense just to let the player figure it out?" - That's rough. Today's Nick says, screw that, add white outlines. Our object art blends in pretty well with the environment and the thing with some of our objects is that we have BOTH interact-able and decorative props that are literally the same sprite. So that being said... interact-able objects now have a white outline! I've attached a couple of screenshots and a link to the video on my social. Our super talented pixel artist started crafting some NPCs that would live in our forest village area. They ARE animated, but they aren't finished, so I'll show that in the next post. Hello! I don't have a crazy amount of updates since Monday. Work's got me quite busy, lol. But I got a few things to share! :) SAVE CRYSTAL I added a save/load crystal! Functionally, it can't do those things yet, it just looks pretty. I need to change the menu that pops up as well, it's from before we re-did all of our UI and dialogue style. It DOES, IN-FACT, SPIN!!! Here's a link to the video I posted on it: https://x.com/Rustic_Panda/status/1854174235343593629 Some Screenshots for you: BOOK ANIMATION So our pause menu is book themed for the UI, so I gave our character a little open book animation. Similarly he closes the book when the menu closes. I can already see the hilarity in opening the book in the middle of a boss fight, LOL. I've attached a screen short video of that as well :) UPCOMING I've got some JUICE in the works. Next on my agenda is fixing my dialogue bubbles on some of the NPCs, updating the save/load crystal text UI, adding some NEW NPCs to the village and more 👀 I'm fairly busy Saturday, but come Sunday, I will definitely have some of this stuff done. Good morning! (At time of writing, lol). I added a short pause on attacks. Trying to add a bit more weight to our protagonists' sword. Progress is going great, it's just a tad slow because of work. 🥲 That's all I've got for today!
